The European Parliament calls to extend sanctions against Belarus, as well as to restrict the access of Belarusian diplomats to the European Parliament buildings in Brussels, says the draft resolution, which will be considered on June 10, 2021.
"The European Parliament calls on the EU Council to quickly expand the list of entities and individuals subject to sanctions against those implicated in the forced landing of Ryanair aircraft, the detention of Roman Protasevich and Sofia Sapega," the question is listed in the program of the session of deputies, the final day of which is held on Thursday.
The European Parliament also calls on companies registered in the EU, including Siemens AG, to stop cooperation with Belarus, to stop cooperation and funding of state banks and temporarily suspend Minsk's participation in the SWIFT system.
In addition, the document says it is planned to call for a review of information exchange with the Belarusian embassy, there is also a paragraph on the participation of Belarusian athletes in international competitions, including the Olympics in Tokyo, as well as broadcasting of sports events.
On June 10, 2021, MPs will vote on the resolution. For EU member states, the European Parliament resolution is a recommendation.
